For a full listing of what's happening, go to www.belvpresbyterian.org.

Our full list of Wednesday offerings resumes this coming Wednesday (4/4) with Deeper Discipleship beginning its study of The Harbinger at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel.  See below for more information on this compelling book.

Script #63

Beloved,

Tonight's Midweek opportunities await you!

Go to www.belvpresbyterian.org for a complete listing.

Remember, because of spring breaks, no Midweek next week; but we will resume April 4.

Speaking of April 4, Deeper Discipleship concludes its look at Chan's Forgotten God tonight and will begin to look at Rabbi Cahn's The Harbinger on 4/4/12 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel.  For more on The Harbinger, go to www.koppdisclosure.com and click on the 3/7/12 edition (viz., "Why I Can't Stand Election 2012") in the right column.

This Sunday's worship services will include a report from our First Response Team's recent relief trip to Harrisburg, Illinois.

Speaking of our FRT, watch for BLBM (BUCKET LIST BUCKET MINISTRY) in our next newsletter, first bulletin of every month, and www.belvpresbyterian.org.

Script #62

Partners,

This is the final report of supplies/$ for tornado relief through Harrisburg, Illinois' First Presbyterian Church and Pastor Judith Beyler.

We are praising the Lord for the churches, presbyters, and friends who have enabled us to take two loaded vehicles (truck and van) and a check for $5,263.00.

Participating churches:

    Elmira United Presbyterian Church
    Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rockford
    Federated Church of Sandwich
Osceola Presbyterian Church of Clark, New Jersey
    First Presbyterian Church, Marengo
    First Presbyterian Church, Kewanee
    First Presbyterian Church, Joliet
    First Presbyterian Church, Belvidere

The Rockford Boys & Girls Club (DP) also participated.

The $ relief will continue as FPC, Joliet, listed as a participating church, will take a special offering this Sunday and send relief directly to Pastor Beyler and Harrisburg's First Presbyterian Church.

We leave for Harrisburg tomorrow morning at 5:00 a.m.

Again, we are praising the Lord for this generous and timely response.

Blessings and Love!

Script #61

Partners,

Westminster Presbyterian Church (Rockford) has joined our relief effort to Harrisburg, Illinois; and my favorite presbyter chaplain and courageous woman of faith has dropped off a very generous check as well.  She doesn't even throw away the Christocentric literature that I drop off at Swedes to counter the stuff in RRT!

I hope to provide a final update sometime while packing up tomorrow - packing begins big time in about 3 hours through tomorrow into the mid-afternoon - and you will be praising the Lord for the generosity of the partners.

We expect to take a truckload and big vanload along with a generous check at 5:00 a.m. on Friday with an anticipated return very late on Friday.

So if you haven't responded yet, there's still time.

Blessings and Love!

Script #60

Partners,

Please call asap (815-544-6402) to arrange dropping off of supplies!

Checks need to be received by Thursday morning!

Participants so far (Hey, you!):

Federated Church of Sandwich
Elmira United Presbyterian Church
First Presbyterian Church, Marengo
First Presbyterian Church, Kewanee
First Presbyterian Church, Belvidere
Rockford Boys and Girls Club (DP)

This cannot wait for a chat, board/session/council/whatever meeting, or 'til you feel like it.

We're all busy.

I'm swamped.

But need doesn't nap and neither should we.

I remember Tony telling me years ago, "The best way to motivate churches is to get them involved in mission.  Unhappy churches become joyful churches when they get involved in missions outside of their buildings.  If you've got an unhappy church, the quickest and best way to turn them around is to help them spend more money helping others than helping themselves.  They'll like it if they try it!"

Blessings and Love!

Script #59

Beloved,

The response continues to build for our FRT's relief trip to First Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, Illinois next Friday.

A generous check from one of our strongest evangelists was hand-delivered less than an hour ago and today's mail included another generous check from one of my favorite coaches in Arizona.

Parenthetically/providentially, Kristin Preihs is studying for a MA in that neck of the woods and we will meet her for lunch on Friday and connect her with Pastor Beyler as our family member on site!  Kristin will keep us posted about emerging opportunities.

But we need lots more supplies and $; and you will hear more about that on Sunday.

Please, we only have one week until departure.  Actually, we need to load up and cut the check in less than a week (Thursday).  So don't procrastinate!

And if you've got friends in neighboring franchise churches or others, tell 'em to get with it/his/Him.  I'm a pastor and know how lazy I can be about opportunities that are fixed in time.  These are immediate needs that will not wait for a bunch of chats, meetings, and...  There's a time to chat and meet and there's a time to act.  Hmm.  I once heard/read something like that in the...

Getting back to Sunday, this year's Confirmation Class is superb with 11 confirmands and one assistant; and because of the time intensive preparations for confirmation on 5/27, folks who cannot make this Sunday's class will have to wait 'til next year.  That's cool.  I thought we'd skip a year; but we already have about seven or eight younger family members who have indicated they will be in the next class.

Staying on Sunday, don't miss the message of 815-544-3535 (devotional on prayer line) as you consider your calendar for Sunday.  His Holy Spirit is moving rapidly in our midst and there's another big moment coming this Sunday.  I know there will be a very, very, very powerful witness during the second service.  It's/he's/He's scheduled!  And God only knows what He's up to for the first service!

We don't want anyone, uh, left behind.

Blessings and Love!

Script #58

The response is picking up, friends.

One of our family of faith's strongest evangelists just came in with a generous check and another came in today's mail from my favorite coach in Arizona!

Six churches have already pledged support and a Rockford civic group is getting on board in a big way with supplies.

Et vous?

Again, disasters, like funerals, come without consulting our calendars or considering our comfort zones.

"When, Lord, did we see You  in need and...?"

Parenthetically/providentially, one of our church's members is studying for a MA near Harrisburg, Illinois and will meet us for lunch next Friday and be our direct contact with Pastor Beyler and the church for possible opportunities to serve in the future.

Please read the following on how you can help in a Matthew 25 kinda way: "As you do it for them, you do it for..."

Blessings and Love!

Quick Notes in Response to Queries:

1. If you'd like to make sure someone is here when you drop off stuff next Thursday (3/15/12), call Karen at (815) 544-6402; however, we anticipate folks at the church from 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

2. Remember, you can drop off stuff before next Thursday!  Again, to make sure that someone is here, call Karen!  Supplies will be, uh, piled in our "Gathering Room" next to our "Welcoming Center" after this Sunday.  Anything received before Sunday will be stored in our board/bored room.

3. And send $ if God has blessed you with more than you need/deserve and just gave it to you to see how you'd manage it for Him.

4. We will cut one check of all contributions at noon next Thursday (3/15/12).

5. So far, we have two drivers, two trucks, and three helpers.  If you would like to make the trip to help load on Thursday afternoon, deliver, and unload next Friday, it will be on a first-come-first-going basis.  If we take two trucks - still a question depending upon donations - we will need one more helper.  You will work, sweat, and get dirty.  We have changed the departure time to 5:00 a.m. and anticipate a return before midnight.

Script #56

Beloved,

Really, really, really pay attention as you scroll down and read about our First Response Team's...

Quickies:

1. The Holy Spirit is moving powerfully every day in our family of faith.  My concern for the snoozing/delinquent/infrequent/former is reflected in a brief devotional on our prayer line at 815-544-3535.

2. It's Wednesday!  Boost at 11:30 a.m. - a devotional look at why we've got a First Response Team - and "regular" activities as noted via www.belvpresbyterian.org.  Really big announcement in chapel at 6:00 p.m.

3. This Sunday's bulletin will include an important letter from our friends in Joplin.

4. During the second service, another powerful witness!  Invite, include, welcome, and love.  Again, 815-544-3535.

Blessings and Love!

Final Details for Your partnership in a Matthew 25 kinda way!

Drop off supplies and $ by next Thursday morning (March 15).

Loading truck(s) and drafting check on Thursday afternoon.

Leaving for Pastor Beyler and Harrisburg, Illinois' First Presbyterian Church on Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. (March 16).

Disasters, like funerals, come without consulting our calendars or comfort zones.

We snooze and they lose.

In other words, we must be in a constant state of prayer and substantial preparation because, when the moments come, ain't no time to sit, chat, have a meeting, or...

Drop off supplies now; and if you can't, send a generous check to us now and designate it for the First Response Team.

Blessings and Love!

Script #54

O.K., comrades, here we go!

I just got off the phone with Pastor Beyler (ignore previous spelling) of Harrisburg, Illinois' First Presbyterian Church.

Work teams are already in place along with supplies for the immediate emergency.

The focus is shifting rapidly to long-term recovery and case management.

A big focus will be assistance to non-insured and under-insured homeowners.

The church itself will be "adopting" families; and that's where we come in.

Our "first response" will be to go to Harrisburg in about two weeks with supplies like toiletries, cleaning materials, and such as we did with Joplin - all new and unused for sanitary purposes - and a check to be "stewarded" by the pastor and session of Harrisburg's First Presbyterian Church.

Frankly, $ will be very, very, very important concomitant to the non-and-under-insured homeowners.

So drop off goods at the church (board/bored room next to my study) and drop off your checks made out to First Presbyterian Church, Belvidere and designated for First Response Team so we can present a check to First Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg within the next few weeks.

The plan is for me to drive my/aka/His truck and, we pray, at least one other truck filled with supplies and drop it off along with a generous check to bring relief to those suffering from the recent disaster.

Parenthetically, we have four trucks available (Dave, Tim, Carl, and moi) for our First Response Team.

Please be generous.

You will be glad you did in a Matthew 25 kinda way.

Blessings and Love!

Script #53

Friends,

With JR's help, we have established contact with Pastor Judy Byler of Harrisburg, Illinois' First Presbyterian Church.

Pastor Byler will be meeting with Red Cross and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance later today and get back to me about pressing needs and how we can extend relief through our FRT.

Please review the paragraphs below; and we will keep you posted.

Blessings and Love!

Script #52

Beloved,

I have a call into our presbytery's EP/GP and my friend JR about linking with a sister congregation in Illinois concomitant to the twisters of the past few days.

As you pray how He will use us to bring relief, please drop off relief supplies in the board/bored room next to my study as we prepare to go.

Also, please do not forget $ donations to help cover the costs of transporting the FRT and the supplies.  Checks can be made out to First Presbyterian Church, Belvidere and designated for First Response Team.

I will keep you posted.

Blessings and Love!

P.S. The tornado season seems to be coming early this year and we must be prepared; or as we noted on Sunday, "We have renovated the church.  Now it's time to renovate our souls."
