Script #70

Beloved,

A friend who happens to share my vocational gig was approached recently by his chairdude of finance who started, "Have you seen our latest receipts?"

Despite every church and organization and club and business (except drug companies) and state and government agency (except for you know who/what) experiencing accelerating financial challenges, my friend, naturally more than spiritually at that moment, began wondering what more he could do to solve a problem plaguing everyone.

I said, "Well, the problem is you've got too many people in your church who are just too rich to tithe."

$ sparks the blame game.

It's especially true in churches where pastors are blamed for infidelities to God reflected in the mirror.

Well, the confrontation that hit my friend for something much deeper than a pastor's ability to stand on her/his head while shaking a tambourine to raise $ provoked me to write a forthcoming newsletter column about $.

Today's KD is about $; and, parenthetically, it includes my favorite love song.  If you guess which one and why, I'll give a free book to you!  No, not that one!  Another one!

Also, I will be talking a lot about Christians and $ on tomorrow's edition of KD on www.bnnsradio.com live at 11:30 a.m.  It's sure to make some people feel guilty; and, BTW, when we feel guilty, we usually are!  Uh, Matthew 5:13ff. comes to mind.

Tomorrow.

11:30 a.m.

Live with Julie, Kathie, Bill, Tony, et...

Blessings and Love!

Script #69

Beloved,

Mark your calendar!

The 16th Annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast sponsored by Mayor Brereton will be on May 3 at 8:00 a.m. in the Community Building (111 West 1st Street, Belvidere).

BMA (Belvidere Ministerial Association) just reviewed the plans and our Lord will be honored as you are inspired in a 2 Chronicles 7:14 kinda way.

Also, don't forget Big Thunder Park prayer circle at noon on the same day!

Unfortunately, I will be in Pennsylvania that day visiting my dad who has faced serious health challenges.  However, you know how I feel/believe about the priesthood of all believers (go to www.bnnsradio.com for a recap by going to the archive of the 4/15 service) and you and the many other called/gifted pastors of Belvidere will help lead/inspire people to...  I trust you and them with enthusiasm!

Quick hits/gifts/opportunities:

1.  BMA and Mayor Brereton with director Nat Bauer and organist Mona Sorensen are deep into planning for this year's patriotic to Jesus and His claim upon America worship service and musical presentation (July 1, 10:00 a.m., at the Community Building).  The pastors of Belvidere who love Jesus and love America enough to worship together as He would have it and join together in blessing Him with repentant hearts and voices call on you to be there and consider being a part of the choir!  Rehearsals are scheduled for our sanctuary on April 22 and May 20 (2:00 - 4:00 p.m.).  If we really care about Christian unity and getting on our knees in prayer and praise for the revival of America...

2. BTW, we're responsible for ushers and greeters on July 1.

3. Habitat for Humanity will be constructing another house on 909 North Main in Belvidere.  You can help!  All skill levels accepted!  For more information, call 815-980-6247.

4. Yo!  Billy Flott and I need your sponsorships for the Stronghold Benefit!  The response so far has been underwhelming.  Go to www.belvpresbyterian.org for more info.  We're gonna be real embarrassed if...  Also, please pray for my health related to this.  Frankly, I don't care about my health in an eternal kinda way; but this is important to Stronghold and Billy.

And if you've ever wondered how to pray perfectly, I'll see you at 7 or 10 in the morning this Sunday.

Blessings and Love!

Script #68

Beloved,

Good news!

Our fledgling "Bucket Ministry" is taking off!

Of course, there's always a dark cloud for every ray of sunakaSonshine.

A silly rumor has come to me that it takes $200 to fill one.

Geez.

It's like I sometimes say, "Sometimes even I cannot believe what I'm quoted to have said."

Anyway, everything for the buckets as noted on the "sticker" lists available in the narthex and chapel runs about $40; and my favorite radio station founder and manager says he and his wife filled two for $40!

Good shoppers!

Yeah, I guess you can buy work gloves for $29.99 at LL Bean or Cabelas if you'd like; or Farm and Fleet or WalMart or The Dollar Store for 99 coppers.

Flashlights are available with batteries for $2.00!!!

So don't listen to those silly rumors; which only discourage us from the great opportunity before us to live and love in concert with Jesus concomitant to Matthew 25.

Still, I know $40 is a big sacrifice in tough times like these.  I'm scrounging pennies for gas these days and just about everything else.  But let's not let hyperbole get in the way of the privilege to serve.

Blessings and Love!

P.S. If you need more specific help in filling your bucket, go to www.belvpresbyterian.org or www.bnnsradio.com!  BTW, that sounds metaphorical in a spiritual kinda way as in, "What's deep in the well comes up in the bucket!"

Script #66

Beloved,

It's never happened during worship in our family of faith at First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Lincoln and Main in Belvidere, Illinois.

It will happen this Sunday.

While He may repeat this revelation and commissioning in the future - only He knows for sure - go to 815-544-3535 just in case.

Speaking of kairos moments/opportunities fixed in time, Billy Flott and I really need your help for the Stronghold Benefit.

Blessings and Love!

P.S. The cover for this Sunday's bulletin is a big clue about what will...
